Preston Bissett Village Hall update October 2022
Dear villager,
We are now in a position to begin the much-needed improvements to the Village Hall (was the Old School) so that it can become a space the whole community is proud to be a part of and wants to use.
In the short-term priorities are to make the interior of the hall useable by doing the following: Restore the floor, remove the partition, decorate, and clean throughout.
In the longer term we need to consider the following;
- Investigate and decide what heating will work best in this space.
- Research options that will vastly improve the hall, the kitchen facilities and toilets. This will almost certainly require an extension along the back of the hall into the yard.
- Improve the outside space behind the hall. There are several ideas including a village garden.
- Grants that may be available to help towards the costs of the above.
- Additional ideas for fund raising.
If you are interested in getting involved with this project, we would like to hear from you. You can help by:
Becoming a Trustee to help with the management, fund-raising (in particular, grant applications) and implementation of the longer-term goals.
Or;
By Volunteering to help with specific fund-raising activity/events and ideas. And/or, providing hands-on help with getting the hall to where it needs to be.
We would like someone to build a photographic record of the village hall as it goes from now to how we want it. Is there anyone out there with a keen interest in photography who could document the changes over the coming weeks, months and years?
From,
Mark Payne, Anna King, Harry Morten and Carl Shute.
