Dear Villagers This year we are planning to organise the village Advent Windows again. The village always looks so pretty in December! Huge thanks to people that have taken part previously. For those that are new to the village, or didn’t take part before, the idea is that everyone chooses a date in December when they will unveil their advent window. That’s a decorated window that can be viewed from the outside. If you don’t have windows visible from the street, be prepared for people to come up your driveway to have a look! This can be anything from paper chains and snowflakes, to fairly lights, to mini scenes and more elaborate displays. The window should also show your number somewhere. So, by Christmas, there is a trail of 24 windows to follow around the village. Once everybody has signed up for a date, I will circulate a list of dates and addresses and a little map so that people can follow the trail. If two people want the same date, it doesn’t matter too much, but it would be nice to have a new one each day. Hopefully we can take a photo of each window this year to share on the village website, so that people who can’t easily get around can still all see the pretty windows. There is also a tradition of the church crib figures, Mary and Joseph, and their trusty donkey, travelling around the village from family to family, before ending up at the church for the crib service on Christmas Eve. Mary and Joseph will be delivered to your house, where you can talk about them together and wish them well on their journey, before you take them safely to their next host for the night. So, if you would like to take part in one or both of these events, please follow this link to complete a simple form: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/WN9ZPMN. If you have any problems using the form, please email me on bertieepps@gmail.com. Please respond before November 17th when the list for both events will be finalised and circulated. Many thanks Bertie Epps |
