V.E. Day Celebration

8 May, 2020 @ 2:30 pm 5:00 pm

A reminder of the day’s events planned for this Friday (8th May 2020) just in case you wandered what you were going to do with yourselves this bank holiday:
All day: We’d love to see those heading out for their daily exercise dressed to impress VE Day style; 1940’s/War time, and maybe spot a few houses dressed for the occasion with their bunting out?
11:00 hours:   National Moment of Remembrance and two minutes Silence
15:00 hours:   Toast to the Heroes; three cheers on your doorstep, with a glass of something nice, lead by our adopted Town Crier (Mark Payne).
Nationally, extracts from Sir Winston Churchill’s victory speech will recreate the moment peace in Europe was announced 75 years ago at 3pm and the Prime Minister will speak about the importance of VE Day
19:00 hours:   VE Day church bells and candle lighting
21:00 hours:   Queen’s speech and the Royal British Legion will be singing We’ll Meet Again
Don’t forget there is still time to get your entries for the colouring competition and photo competition in to us [link], so what are you waiting for?
We look forward to celebrating VE Day as a village on Friday, see you then,
The Events Committee
