Croquet is a game played on grass in which plastic balls are driven through a series of flat topped hoops by means of a mallet.
We are an informal group who play croquet on the outfield of the village cricket ground. No committee, no constitution and no uniform. We play twice a week for a couple of hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 14.00 hrs, when a sub of £1 is payable. There is no defined season and we try to play throughout the year, weather permitting, by changing the playing times to meet the available light.
Two or three times a year, normally in the summer, we play friendly matches against Winslow Croquet Club and Buckingham U3A Croquet group; these games are very informal and are followed by tea.
Currently there are seven players and we would welcome anyone who wishes to join us, if you do please call David Hall on 01280 848377 or email dhalluk@live.co.uk or Nick Steadman on 0845 2264694 or email n.steadman@btinternet.com
Experience is not essential as training is available, we also have a few mallets available for you to use if you don’t already have one of your own.
Over the past few years we have received support from the Preston Bissett Leisure Committee towards the purchase of equipment, including a set of competition balls and hoops.
